Lemon (Dinner)

I've been to Lemon at Amwaj for breakfast, lunch and now dinner.  Once again, another great meal. I ordered the Fish and Chips (4.8BD) and my friend ordered Eggplant and Halloumi Salad (2.9BD) with a side order of Chicken Tenders (2.6BD).  The fish was perfect, and the chips were actually thinly sliced potatoes chips (not french fries).  My friend reported the tenders were ok and the salad was really good. Whether you going for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you're surely to get a great meal at Lemon.

Pomodorini (Pizza)

There's a new Italian restaurant open in Juffair in the new Al Osra shopping complex (by the Diva Hotel).  Pomodorini's offers a nice selection of menu items to include antipasti, pizza, pasta, risotto, steak and seafood.  I've been there twice this week for the pizza.  If you like an Italian style pizza (thin crust, little sauce and good ingredients), then you'll have to check this out.  As you can tell by the pictures, the size of the pizza is the size of a large place, so there isn't much room for sharing if this in your only entree.  However, the price is right.  On my first trip, I ordered the Napoli (2.5BD).  The Napoli comes with mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, olives, anchovies and capers.  I substituted the anchovies for mushrooms and it was delicious.  On my second trip, I ordered the American Hot (3.0BD), which came with mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, pepperoni sausage and green peppers.  The pepperoni was actually pretty good. Bothe pizza were very good.  Add 500 fills for a drink, and you have yourself a nice value meal.  One other side note, there were no other taxes, service charges, etc to the bill.  A pizza and coke for 3BD.  They also offer free delivery. 17000121.  www.pomodorini.me

Vapiano's (Calzone)

Vapiano's is one of our favorite places for pizza and salad.  On this trip, my wife and I ordered the calzone, with veggies and pepperoni (4.5BD).  Additionally, we ordered our favorite Insalate Mista salad (3.2BD).  My wife actually ordered the same thing a few days before and reported the calzone was enormous and came out about the size of the plate.  As you can tell by the picture, that wasn't the case on this trip, but the calzone was still very good none the less. In my opinion, the calzone was good, but I'll order the pizza on my next trip.

Kosebasi (Breakfast)

If you're ever at the Citi Centre and the line is too long at IHOP, then you should make your way over to Kosebasi for a Turkish breakfast.  I have been there once before for breakfast (See Review), so I knew what I was going to order the Menemem Omelet (2.4BD), which is made with tomato and peppers.  My wife ordered the Ispanakli Omelet (2.9BD). Both meals are very good.  On our last trip, we ordered the bread platter, and were overwhelmed by all the bread.  On this trip, we skipped the bread; however, we felt a void when all the food was on the table. Next time, we'll order the bread!

Fat Burger

In an effort to use an Entertainer coupon and shave off a few calories, I ordered the Veggie Burger meal at Fat Burger.  Since the coupon required the purchase of a double burger, I ordered the double veggie and my wife ordered the double cheese burger.  After my last trip to Elevation Burger, I knew my wife was in for the better tasting burger.  Again, the veggie burger was filling, but sure lacked the taste of the double cheese burger.  We shared an order of the Fat Fries, which was the highlight of my meal.  Overall, not a bad meal using the coupon.  Two double burgers, two drinks and an order of Fat Fries for 6.2BD.

Tony Luke's (Special Promotion)

Tony Lukes's has been hitting the social media outlets promoting their new Jalapeño Ranch Chicken Cheese Steak.  Well, the 1BD promotion got my attention and I went to give it a try.  I visited the Juffair location and was greeted by a very friendly staff.  I told the clerk I was there for the new chicken sandwich and ordered the sandwich with brown bread, a small fry and drink.  The sandwich alone is 1BD, make it a combo for only 1.7BD.  On this visit, I ordered regular fries, so I would't get distracted eating the sandwich. Tony Roma's has some of the best flavored fries on island, including Salt and Vinegar, BBQ, Cajan and Sour Cream and Onion.  Ok, back to the sandwich, the sandwich is loaded with chicken, Jalapeño peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes.  It then has a generous topping of the ranch sauce and provolone cheese.  The sandwich was very flavorful and filling...I would rush in and take advantage of the promotion while it last.

Sombreo Mexican Taco Shop

There has been a lot of buzz about the new Taco Shop in Juffair.  Located just past American Alley, near the sports complex, is the small taco shop offering Southern California style tacos.  The reviews have been mixed, and I'll tell you why.  Let me tell you what Sombreo's is not, it's not Taco Bell, Senior Paco or Casa Mexicana.  You're not going to get tacos's loaded with lettuce, tomato and sour cream.  Now, what Sombrero's is however, a nice place to get a really good beef taco.  I've been there a couple times now, and I've tried the Beef Taco (1.8BD) and California Carne Asada (burrito) (3BD).  Both I thought were very good.  The owner (a SOCAL Native) told me the taco's are all hand made and involves a lot of work by the cook. First the beef preparation in the morning, then they actually make the tortilla when you order. The result is very good.  The California burrito was stuffed with meat and potato and was very tasty.  To top it off, I would recommend an order of the chips and guacamole (1BD). The owner also told me they are open for breakfast in the morning, so I'll have to check that out on another trip.

Passion Restaurant and Lounge

My wife and recently had dinner at Passion in Adliya.  Let me say up front, the dinner was excellent. The menu offered a good variety of menu items. We ordered the grilled Halloumi cheese (1.8BD) for an appetizer and I ordered the Thai Duo with Chicken (3.9BD), which includes both a red and green curry. A side of steamed rice was an additional .9BD. My wife ordered the Stir Fry Noodle Beef (2.4BD).  Both meals were delicious and the atmosphere at the restaurant was very nice. Additionally, there is a lot of seating inside and outside, so I'll be looking forward to going back when the temperatures drop for some outside dining.

Pastarito

Looking to cash in on one of my Entertainer coupons, my wife and I visited Pastarito at the City Centre.  My wife was in the mood for pasta, so she ordered the Salsa Golosa (4.5BD).  The Salsa Golosa is made with tenderloin beef, assorted peppers, tossed in a tomato and cream sauce.  The dish was very good.  I ordered the Triplo Calzone Pizza (4.9BD).  The Triplo is a monster calzone, basically three in one.  Each section is a separate entrée including a smoked turkey, mushroom and mozzarella section, a salami, mozzarella and oregano section, and a green pepper, mozzarella and tomato section.  It was huge and delicious.  Actually, it was too big and I had to box most of it for take-away.  Overall, a very good meal.  With the coupon and a couple Diet Cokes, the bill came to be 7.5BD.

Motorox Cafe

I used to drive the by the Motorox Cafe on Budaiya Highway a lot, but never visited.  I recently noticed that there was a restaurant that just opened up in Adliya. My wife and I visited, I had the shrimp (5.5BD) and my wife had the Hot Lap steak (6.8BD).  I thought the shrimp was really good.  However, my wife's steak wasn't the most tender.  The steak was a pretty big size and she did order it well done, so we decided to go back for a second visit before we decided to offer a recommendation.  The menu offers a nice selection of appetizers, burgers and steaks.  On the second visit, I ordered the Pit Pass grilled chicken sandwich (3.4BD) and my wife had the Nascar Classic Burger (3.4BD) and an order of Hot Mozzarella Sticks (2.9BD) for appetizer. There were five of us eating, four of whom had sandwiches.  We all thought the bun was a fail for the sandwich.  It seemed like the bun was pulled out of bag and thrown together.  The other person at the table ordered the Beef Ribs.  They were big, but they were not cooked enough, and had to go back for a little bit.  Overall, we were all disappointed with the meal.  For the price, I would expect better tasting meals.
