Bushido (Brunch)

I usually save the Friday Brunches for the work get-togethers, were we introduce new folks and say goodbye to those leaving.  Otherwise, they can get pretty expensive. On this occasion, we had brunch at Bushido's by the Ritz Carlton.  As far as brunches go, it's very good and considering the price of about 18BD (without drinks), it's a decent price for an all you can eat Japanese feast.  The brunch offers a nice selection of sushi, tempera, soups and yakiniku-to include beef, squid, shrimp, scallops and fish.  Also, what many people may miss out on, is the selection of a main entree from the menu.  There are several dishes including Udon, salmon, shrimp and salmon cheek.  I ordered the salmon cheek. If you have room, they also offer a selection of desserts.

The Dome

I couldn't pass this one up.  My wife and I visited the Dome in Juffair for an early Saturday morning coffee.  The restaurant was pleasantly empty around 0830 when we visited, and they offer free wifi with your order.

Fast Food (Filipino)

Admittedly, I haven't been to any other Filipino restaurant, but Fast Food near the DHL is absolutely delicious. They offer a huge menu at ver reasonable prices.  On this trip, my wife and I shared an oder of spring rolls, pandit with vegetables and my favorite, kaldreta.  A word of advise, the green items in the kaldreta dish is not a green bean, it's a pepper and will light you up in you're not careful.

Farmers Market (Update)

I posted on the blog the opening of the Farmers Market when it reopened for the season.  On that trip, there wasn't a good supply of tomatoes.  My wife and I visited the market this morning, and as I hoped, there's a good supply of tomatoes and a variety of other vegetables at very reasonable prices.  In fact, there are more booths setup since our first visit of the season.  Additionally, most of the tables have prices of the goods posted, to make it easier to communicate with the vendors. We arrived at the market around 0815 in the morning, and the place was booming.  I would recommend bringing a bag so you can tote your harvest.  There are carts available, but I find the bag is more convenient.  Also, the parking is a little crazy, I would recommend parking on the street across from the market.  There's decent parking on the street and you can get in and out with little difficulty. The market is located at the agricultural center, at the end of Budayia highway (past McDonald's if you coming from the Hamburger Land roundabout).
